P.J. O'Rourke on Obama's "Accomplishments" at age 34

From the The Weekly Standard Magazine:
He embarked on an urban scam called “community organizing.” Then he obtained a large sum for writing a book about his life and accomplishments at age 34 when he didn’t have any accomplishments and hadn’t led much life. He wormed his way into politics with all its perks and benefits. And now his big house, his stretch limousine, and his luxury jet are paid for out of the public treasury.

Ron Paul: FED Action's have "nothing to do with free markets"

Dr. Paul on the latest act of "transparency" by the Federal Reserve:
Without the Federal Reserve's relentless expansion of credit throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, there could have been no excessive borrowing or explosion of subprime lending. Through easy credit, the Fed initiated the economic boom that created the dot-com bubble. When that bubble burst the Fed pumped additional liquidity into the system, which led to a new boom that created the housing bubble. Commodity prices have risen rapidly, producer prices have followed suit and consumers are already seeing the beginning of massive price increases passed on to them. And now the Fed's additional trillions of dollars in monetary pumping is creating yet another bubble. This is the exact opposite of stability in the marketplace and has nothing to do with free markets. It is central economic planning at its worst. And the end result may be hyperinflation and the destruction of our currency.

Video: Government Gangsters Raid Raw Food Stores

If a group of thugs come into my place of business with guns and steal my products, then they go to jail.

If a group of government agents come into my place of business with guns and steal my products, then they get a promotion.

TSA: Theatrical Security Agents, Touching Stuff Aggressively

Trampling Several Amendments,Teaching Submission to Americans, Touching Sensitive Areas, Too Stupid for Arby's, Testicle Searchers of America, Touch Stroke Assault, Targeted Sexual Assault -- these are but a few of various ways you can say TSA, and all thanks goes to Reason TV for creating the wonderfully irreverent video I got this from.

In all seriousness, the TSA keeps on violating people's sense of dignity. Earlier this month they patted down a six-year old girl (and we all know six-year olds have been packing lately), and now the former Miss USA. Despite the age difference, both parties feel violated (and the little girl was confused. Her parents taught her to not let strangers touch her sensitive areas, and some stranger in a government uniform). The age gap also shows that you can be any age and realize that there is something that is fundamentally wrong about getting touched by strangers against your will.

The jackals don't seems to realize that people do not feel safer. They feel like they are being molested. And if that is what it takes to become safer give me no part of it. I'll take my chances.

Just watch the videos and share the pain and anger.

Free Download: Food Shock

Preparing for the worst is exactly what this 33-page book is about. The book is not shy to say so. On page four we read the following:
At some point in the very near future, home gardening may no longer be just a hobby; for millions of Americans, it could become a necessity.
Excerpts:

Darfur for the Simple, China for the Prepared
“Hunger today is not people starving in the streets, but it’s people choosing between food and rent. It’s parents going without food to feed their children. If safety net programs are further eviscerated, we are going to see Depression style hunger, Darfur style hunger, Calcutta style hunger happening here in New York.”
Estrangement from the land
“Never before in history have so many people been divorced from the production of their own food. Our estrangement from the land could prove to be our undoing … unless we take action now and reclaim that relationship.”
Plugging our ears when we hear "personal responsibility"
“Most people don’t want to hear about taking greater personal responsibility, or becoming more self-reliant. It’s no secret that many Americans, in general, have a sense of entitlement. A huge segment of the population expects that somehow, the government will come to the rescue.”
Hundreds, Thousands Earned on Food
A home garden can save at least $600 in food costs. Many gardeners save much more.

Housing Taking Away Farm Land

We lose, on average, one acre of U.S. farmland every minute. Most of this loss is due to the conversion of farms to industrial and residential uses. Between 2002 and 2007, 4,080,300 acres of farmland were converted for development. This is roughly the area of Massachusetts. This is just part of a long-term trend.
Prepare for the Worst; Download this Book
“In our just-in-time economy, we aren’t used to planning ahead. We think food will always be available, 24/7, whenever we need it. In most parts of the world, that’s simply not the case. Someday soon, that could be the case here in America as well.
Gardening isn’t hard, but it takes time … and timing.”
The book is available for download here and here.

If you don't want to go the Food Shock route (like me), or can't, then you can go the Alpha Strategy way. For those who just want to stock up, and learn how to do so effectively, download the Alpha Strategy here.

Video: Ron Paul - Sanctions are an act of WAR

As the war in Libya goes on, and the Obama administration positions itself to impose economic sanctions on Syria, we have to look at what economic sanctions really are: acts of war.

And why don't we look at this from the other side? What if China decided to impose economic sanctions on us? How many goods and services would we be without?

I just found out that I was featured on The #Libertarian Daily...a day late. So I couldn't get the screen capture that I wanted and I had to use the search engine to find what article was featured.

As you can see above, my post about Murray Rothbard on the Clinton Administration was posted.

Gary North on 'Doing Nothing'

Excerpted from his latest LewRockwell.com essay:
Doing nothing will not be an option indefinitely; the longer we wait to act, the greater the risks and the more wrenching the inevitable changes to the budget will be.

Rothbard: If the Clinton Administration is for it...It should be Opposed

In an essay against NAFTA, Rothbard gives a general rule that may apply to the Obama administration as well:
Kill Nafta – and strike a blow directly in the gut of the Clinton administration. A good rule of thumb: other things being equal, if the Clinton administration is for it, whatever it is, it should be opposed on general principles. The more the Clinton administration fails, the more it withers and dies, the more American freedom and prosperity, the more the Old Republic, shall live.

Video: Goodlatte to Finish the Work of Thomas Jefferson

Washington (GoinsReport.com) – Americans for Prosperity held a rally last Wednesday in front of the capitol building with one message in mind: “Cut spending now.”

Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), one speaker among many, said he wanted to finish the work of the third U.S. President and to have a bill that would cap the amount of money that the U.S. government can borrow.

“We need the American people to ask for what Thomas Jefferson ask for just eight years after our constitution was written. He said he wished for a single amendment. He said ‘by that I mean a single article limiting the ability of the federal government’s ability to borrow money.’”

He continued: “We need to finish the work that Thomas Jefferson – a great Virginian and a great American – started.”

Currently, 49 out of 50 states have balanced budget amendment. Vermont is the only state not to have one.

Goodlatte has introduced balanced budget amendments multiple times already; at least once in 2009, and twice in 2011.

The second new bill requires a super-majority to raise taxes, and cut back spending as a percentage of GDP to 20 percent.

However, according to Goodlatte, 47 Republican senators say they want to limit government spending as a percentage of GDP to 18 percent.

Like Majority Leader John Boehner, Goodlatte said that he doesn’t want to balance the budget by raising taxes.

According the Office of Management and Budget, federal outlays as a percentage of GDP in 2010 was 23.8 percent, down from a 2009 when spending was 25 percent of GDP.

The last time federal outlays were close to 18 percent of GDP was in 2001, at 18.2 percent.

In the Letter to John Taylor of Caroline (1798), Thomas Jefferson wrote:
I wish it were possible to obtain a single amendment to our Constitution. I would be willing to depend on that alone for the reduction of the administration of our government; I mean an additional article taking from the Federal Government the power of borrowing. I now deny their power of making paper money or anything else a legal tender. I know that to pay all proper expenses within the year would, in case of war, be hard on us. But not so hard as ten wars instead of one. For wars could be reduced in that proportion; besides that the State governments would be free to lend their credit in borrowing quotas.

Michael Tanner on the What the Next President Should Be Like

In a recent opinion piece on the National Review (re-published by the Cato Institute), Michael Tanner commented on what the next president should be like. I completely agree:
Ryan's approach is a good start. But for the long term, it will require a 2012 presidential candidate capable of explaining the facts to an uninformed public and courageous enough to make the necessary cuts — even if the public thinks they hurt.

The Goins Report on the Greek Letter Organization from Hell

C. Goins on the government:
“Government is the Greek letter organization from hell. It's the never-ending order in which you have no say concerning your membership and you always have to pay dues—no matter how active or inactive you are. If you are born, you're in, and you can't get out. If you try, they'll send some blockhead with a badge and a gun to collect your dues. And upon resistance, they’ll throw you away as if you were never in their prestigious organization at all.”

Scheuer: Obama an Arrogant, Racist Interventionist

I'm just the messenger.
Obama and other recent U.S. presidents are out to teach foreigners to elect good men, as well as to help elevate our uncivilized little brown brothers to the heights of our near-perfect secular (semi-pagan) democracy. Whether those little brown brothers want to give up their faith, tribalism, patriarchal societies, family structures, societal mores, or ethnic distinctiveness is irrelevant. Mr. Obama and his predecessors know what is best for all of them, and U.S. policy will be to impose it on them at all costs, even if we have to intervene and kill many of our little brothers — and perhaps uselessly waste the lives of many of our soldiers and Marines — to bring about this sublime culmination.

Does the Bible lean toward anarchism?

Samuel Konkin on the State

From the New Libertarian Manifesto:
"Such an institution of coercion – centralizing immorality, directing theft and murder, and coordinating oppression on a scale inconceivable by random criminality – exists. It is the Mob of mobs, Gang of gangs, Conspiracy of conspiracies. It has murdered more people in a few recent years than all the deaths in history before that time; it has stolen in a few recent years more than all the wealth produced in history to that time; it has deluded – for its survival – more minds in a few recent years than all the irrationality of history to that time; Our Enemy, The State."
