Antony Flew: Libertarian

Many Christians know of Antony Flew because he was an atheist and debated Christian apologist William Lane Craig and resurrection scholar Gary Habermas. But Flew was also a friend of liberty and an advocate for political and economic freedom.

Here are some of his writings in "The Freeman," a publication of the Foundation for Economic Education.

Sanchez: 'True Progress Toward Liberty Cannot be Achieved Through the Offices of a Gargantuan State'

Danny Sanchez on voting and the cause of liberty:
For one thing, your vote helps provide a mandate for all of the elected officer’s policies, whether you support those policies or not. As one author has said, voting "just encourages the bastards."

Furthermore, every vote for a federal office is a vote for the hyper-state known as the U.S. federal government, and for hyper-states in general. It is effectively an endorsement of centralized power and a vote of no confidence in localism. And yes, this would be true of a vote for a middling libertarian like Gary Johnson, or even an exceptionally heroic individual like Ron Paul.

The Make-Up Police Are Coming to Shut You Down

From Facebook:
A long time ago in the early days of The Goins Report (2010), I wrote a series of blog posts arguing that women should be legally allowed to braid their own daughters hair or neighbor's hair -- because logic dictates that if you need a license to be a hairstylist to do hair in a building, what stopping the gov't from shutting down a hair salon run out of a home?

This time, the make-up police are out!
Here are those three blog posts I was referring to:

Gary North on the Price of Liberty

What is good for the world would not be good in the short run for gold bugs, of whom I am chief. That is the price of liberty.

Bojidar Marinov on the Standard for Liberty

The Ten Commandments, and the laws following from them in the Pentateuch, and the applications of those laws as revealed in the whole Bible are the only transcendent standard for liberty. Men are fallen and sinful; their mutual agreements can not be trusted, and they must always agree with the Law of God to be considered valid and just. When their mutual agreements are based on a legal system which is openly hostile to the Biblical Law, then validating those agreements by the courts is a war against liberty.

Granted, our own legal system in the US is far from the original Christian commitment this nation had to the Word of God; but they are still influenced by it to a large extent.

But the solution to the imperfections and injustices in the legal system can not be allowing a tyrannical and cruel system of law like Sharia make its inroads, even if it is for ostensibly “innocent” issues like property disputes. One tyranny can not be nullified by another tyranny. Sharia must be banned from our courts and our land; and a true libertarian will argue and fight for a return to the legal standards of the Word of God.
