A Prayer for Purity

Proverbs 16:3 says,
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”

Father,

I have broken covenant with you. I have played the whore and have gone after other gods. I have not left the door to sin left cracked open; rather, I stood, in darkness, on the opposite side of a cracked door allowing just a little bit of your light to shine in; I wanted to be in sin, in darkness, and pretended that I really wanted you.

Ever Holy Lord, I am sorry.

Please forgive me.

Restore to me your holiness, through your Holy Spirit. Do not leave me barren. Naked. Ashamed. Clothe me in your righteousness. Make me right before you. Make me more like your divine Son who was made righteousness for me. Bring to my remembrance the cross he had to bear, his vicious execution, and his resurrection, which gives me hope over the power of sin and death. Help me remember that I am too called to carry my cross, crucify my fleshly desires, and overcome by the power of Christ’s Holy blood and Your wondrous spirit.

Through enthusiastic love of You, of Christ, of the Holy Spirit, and consequent discipleship, help me attain purity, holiness.

Increase my knowledge of you, O Lord, and of your ways.

Help me glory in your law and nature!

Help me praise you like Jesus!

Help me praise you like the Psalmists!

Help me fear you!

Help me…because I not only can’t do this by myself, I can’t do this at all through my human strength.

I need you Lord.

Love,

Christopher

Joel McDurmon on What Christians Should be Doing on Syria

Via Joel McDurmon of The American Vision:
If you really care about Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Egypt, Libya and every other hell-hole governed by a despot or in the grip of civil war, there is only one appropriate response. You pray to the God who makes wars to cease from the ends of the earth to bring peace (Psalm 46:9); pray for the gospel to take root and flourish in those nations; and send out missionaries there if you can. These are the only weapons that will ever do those places any good. All others will reap yet more destruction and misery in the years to come and our nations will bear much of the responsibility for it.
I'd like to add, "Can any of you by worrying add a single hour to his life?" (Matthew 6:27)

Murray Rothbard on Public Schools

To the religious conservatives: Restoring public prayer won't be enough, says Murray Rothbard.
Restoring prayer, however, will scarcely at this date solve the grievous public school problem. Public schools are expensive and massive centers for cultural and ideological brainwashing, at which they are unfortunately far more effective than in teaching the 3R's or in keeping simple order within the schools. Any plan to begin dismantling the public school monstrosity is met with effective opposition by the teachers' and educators' unions. Truly radical change is needed to shift education from public to unregulated private schooling, religious and secular, as well as home-schooling parents.
