Misleading Headline: Iran Vows to Enemies Will Not Survive

Finish the headline for goodness sakes (Iran Vows Enemies Will Not Survive -- If Attacked First). This is so misleading. (And it's in bright red at that)

From the Associated Press:

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- An Iranian general has said that his country's enemies will not survive if they attack Iran's nuclear sites. (emphasis mine)

We can stop here. But let's go on.

A Friday report by the semiofficial ISNA news agency quotes Gen. Farzad Esmaili, chief of air defense, as saying "we vow our enemies will not survive," if they attack Iran's nuclear sites. (emphasis mine)

It's clear as day, Iran isn't going to attack anyone unless they're attacked first.

Iran Missile Drill Results Exaggerated, Images Photoshopped

It turned out the missiles weren't that long range after all.

The Qhader missile, introduced in September, has a range of just 124 miles. The U.S. Navy's fifth fleet in Bahrain is 150 miles from Iran. Israel is four times farther.

"We've seen that they've photoshopped, for example, photographs of missile tests before to make it look more impressive than it actually is, so I would take all this with a grain of salt. I think this is mainly posturing. It's gamesmanship. And it's again meant to send a message that the Iranians aren't simply going to sit back while their oil is sanctioned," said Michael Singh, Washington Institute for Near East Policy.

Yes, Governments Do Lie To Those They Govern

On the recent Iranian terror plot, the writers at the Daily Kos express some skepticism about Hillary Clinton's very telling question regarding the believability of the foiled plot. If you missed it, Hillary said: "The idea that they would attempt to go to a Mexican cartel to solicit murder-for-hire to kill the Saudi ambassador, nobody could make that up, right?"

The Daily Kos Responds: "Wrong, Hillary. Somebody Could Make That Up To Start a War With Iran. Remember Curveball?

The Daily Kos isn't the only outlet who expressed some skepticism on the matter.

Monthly Review expresses major doubt on the matter as well. They are more forthright.
Sure they could, Madam Secretary. You could. So could the same people who lied to us about Iraq having weapons of mass destruction, ties to al-Qaeda and responsibility for 9/11. You guys lie all the time. That's your job.

Iran hasn't attacked another country in more than 200 years. Its government works day and night to improve its relations with its mainly Muslim neighbors. But as ludicrous as the assassination plot charge is, it comes at a very serious time.
